The Brasil Sorridente program is a project that aims to offer free dental treatment to thousands of Brazilians through the SUS. The program already has more than 18 years of operation and several indispensable and free treatments.

These services are more easily found in Basic Health Units, which are better known as health posts, and open up to quality and free oral health, with more trained professionals!

Depending on the case, the treatment can even be transferred to a Dental Specialty Center (CEO), or to hospitals, with the intention of bringing a more specialized service, as in the case of surgeries or implants.

The program has transformed the scenario of oral health, which has always been difficult to access, limited and expensive, above all for the poorest families in Brazil. With it, thousands of Brazilians have already transformed their smiles without spending a real, and receive assistance every month.

To participate in the program is very simple, just have an identification document and your SUS card. With both in hand, check where a program unit is closest to you and go to it with your documentation, or register online!

It will also be necessary to carry out a prior consultation to check with a professional from the health center or family clinic to assess the state of your oral health and the need for referral to the program.

The professional will still assess which treatments will be necessary for you. To speed up the registration process, you can enroll in the CadÚnico program!

CadÚnico is a program that stores your information, as well as that of your family members, it automatically tells you which government programs you and your family are eligible to take part in!

After the evaluation consultation in which the professional assesses the health of your mouth, gums and teeth, treatments with the responsible dentist begin according to your needs. The forwarding and scheduling of future appointments happen on the same day!

As we said before, the Smiling Brazil project gives access to several treatments that were previously only possible to be done through a private dentist paying absurd amounts! Currently you can access healthcare close to your home and for free!

Another service that is provided free of charge by the program is ensuring that there is fluoridation in the water in 100% of municipalities that have a supply system. The purpose of the service is to prevent the population from contracting cavities.

In this sense, there are approximately 60% of Brazilian cities that already have this service. Another action of the program is to encourage the state to donate free toothbrushes and toothpaste to families and guide the population on better hygiene practices.

Access to health is everyone's right, and that right includes access to basic oral health treatments. The program is nothing more than a public policy created by the Government.

Therefore, anyone, of any age, in any economic class, can sign up and schedule a free consultation.

Unless your state does not have a functioning program unit, in which case, you may be referred to the nearest unit!

Therefore, first of all, confirm that the nearest SUS health unit has this service. SUS health units can be health posts, as well as family clinics. 

In principle, all states have a program unit, however not all cities have the adequate infrastructure to receive a Brasil Sorridente unit. 

Generally, the reason is that health posts do not have an adequate structure or that they do not have qualified professionals. The state of Roraima, for example, has 15 cities, however only 4 of them have the service.

If you want to be sure that your state or city has a functional unit of the Brasil Sorridente program, just access the Ministry of Health website, where it is easy to find a list of states with accredited cities.

Another way is to download the ConectaSUS application available for Android and iPhone, register for free, log in, and access the Health Network option, where you can find all the services offered by SUS, select the desired option and see the units closest to you.
