Since the beginning of February, Bolsa Família has been paying the amount of R$600 to families enrolled in the Federal Government's social program, aiming to economically help families in poverty or extreme poverty.

Around 21 million registered families rely on this payment. Remembering that soon this amount may increase with an extra R$150 for each child up to 6 years old in the family.

In the previous administration, the program was extinguished and replaced by Auxílio Brasil. With Lula as President, the program is once again called Bolsa Família and undergoes changes.

Former beneficiaries of Auxílio Brasil will not be harmed by the return of Bolsa Família. And families headed by women will have preference for aid.

It is very important to remember that the benefit payment dates are based on the final digit of the NIS (Social Identification Number), which is on the holder's card.

After your payment date, you have up to 120 days to withdraw the amount, otherwise it will go back to your original fund. February dates have already been released for 2023:

Payment can be withdrawn at self-service terminals, lottery outlets, Caixa Aqui correspondents and at Caixa Econômica Federal branches. Using the program card, which, if the family is approved, will be sent to the applicants' home.

To find out if the family has been approved, the representative can access the “CAXA TEM” application. It is also possible to dial 111, which is the Caixa Econômica Federal service.

Families that fit the social program norms choose a family representative and voluntarily register for him.

The registration takes place at the CRAS (Reference Center for Social Assistance) of the municipality or body responsible for Bolsa Família in which they live.

Bolsa Família is the income transfer program created in the Lula government in 2004. With the creation of Auxílio Brasil in 2021, in the Bolsonaro government, Bolsa Família was extinguished.

Auxílio Brasil was created, which continued to assist families in poverty or extreme poverty registered in the program. He also increased the payout to beneficiaries from R$ 400.00 to R$ 600.00.

In 2023, with Lula's return to power, the income transfer program is once again called Bolsa Família. And families with children under 6 years old will receive an additional R$ 150.00 per child.

Finally, to withdraw and transfer the amount, beneficiaries of the Auxílio Brasil, now known as Bolsa Família, will continue to use the same NIS and Auxílio card.

To enroll in Bolsa Família, you need to be in the CadÚnico database. You can do it through the app or website, which will speed up the registration process. 

During pre-registration, a family member must be chosen as the family representative (he/she must be over 16 years old).

The pre-registration step is optional, the representative can go directly to a CRAS unit, if he so wishes.

After pre-registration, the representative has up to 120 days to go to the CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center) and carry out the final registration in the CadÚnico system.

The beneficiaries of the Auxílio Brasil will not be harmed by the return of the “Bolsa Família”. The Bolsa Família payment schedule for the coming months has already been released. Women and female-headed households are given preference for accessing assistance.

It is also worth remembering that if there are changes in family members or family income, it is necessary to update the information in the Single Registry so that the Federal Government continues to pay the benefit.
